1. What happens when I submit an application for a merchant account?

Your local branch will do a credit review. Once approved, you will be provided with an access code so that you can start to build your QuickStore and sell on-line.

2. How does the Web site work?

The following steps explain the process after you have built your QuickStore until you receive funds from a sale:

  • Customers visit your QuickStore and select items for purchase
  • Once customers have added all the items they want to purchase to their shopping cart they proceed to the check out process
  • Customers provide billing, shipping and payment information and click the "Check Out" button
  • System obtains an online real time authorization for the order
  • If the authorization is unsuccessful, the customer is asked for another form of payment and the authorization process is repeated
  • If the authorization is successful, the customer is given an online order confirmation, the system sends the customer an order confirmation email, creates an order and sends an (optional) order alert email to the merchant
  • Merchant then logs into the web interface to print packing slips and to perform further research to determine validity of orders
  • Merchant ships product or provides service
  • Merchant logs into the web interface and processes the shipment of goods or delivery of services
  • System generates an invoice confirmation email to the customer
  • System generates a settlement record for the amount of the invoice and on a daily basis batches settlement records together for submission to Scotia CardPoint Payment Processing. The cut off time for orders is 11:00pm EST.
  • Scotia CardPoint Payment Processing initiates the collection of funds from the cardholder
  • The proceeds of your sales, net of merchant account fees, are deposited into your bank account within 2 business days.

4. How long will it take to create my site?

Your initial site may be up and running in a matter of minutes. This will include information about your company, what your goals are and how people can contact you. Creation of your online catalog depends on the number of catalog items you want to offer, and the readiness of your graphic content and product data to be loaded into your site. If you only offer a limited number of catalog items with pictures and text, you can set up your store in a few hours.

The system provides you with simple step-by-step instructions to assist in completing all of the required store elements. You can take as long as needed to set up your store. It is not available to the public Internet until you activate it and open your "doors" for business. When you build your store the graphics you wish to include need to be in a .jpg or .gif file format.

Additionally, transferring of a domain name, if you have it at another provider may take a couple of days to reach our servers. We have no control over the amount of time it takes for other parties to react, but we act as quickly as possible to ensure a smooth transition for you to get online and selling.
